Madhya Pradesh as a tourist destination

Madhya Pradesh is located just at the centre of the country surrounded by UP and Rajasthan in the north, Rajasthan and Gujrat in the west, Maharashtra in the south and Chandigarh in the East. Madhya Pradesh is the second largest Indian state and fifth largest state with a population of over 1 million.

Madhya Pradesh is one of India’s favourite tourist destinations now a days. From temples to expansive landscapes, to various wildlife, the state has everything that tourists can ask for. The state offers plenty of opportunities for travellers with a variety and unique travel lists.

Bandhavgarh and Kanha National Parks are one of the top national parks in India. Bandhavgarh is difficult to reach and although the visit is quite expensive, most probably the best place to see a tiger in India’s jungle. In addition to the tigers, the park also has a vast array of wildlife, including lazy bears, jackals, deer, leopards and birds. In this park there is dense green valleys and rocky mountains with an ancient fort. Kanha Park has Saal trees, bamboo trees in forests and lakes, streams and open grasslands. In addition to the tiger, there is a species of swamp deer in the park. The park is highly respected for its research and conservation program and many endangered species have been preserved there. 

Gwalior is just two hours drive from Agra and Taj Mahal in Uttar Pradesh. Known as one of the inimitable forts of India, its history extends over more than a thousand years. Underneath the fort lies the old city of Gwalior, which contains fine examples of Mughal architecture as a tomb of Tansen. 

Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is known for the tragic poisoning that took place there after the leak of a deadly gas in 1984. In the city there are two large lakes, Upper Lake and Lower Lake. The city has two main attractions, the mosque and the museum.

Sanchi Stupa is one of the oldest Buddhist monuments in India and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is also an archaeological museum. Sanchi can be seen on a day trip from Bhopal. 

There are many more things to see in Madhya Pradesh like, Orchha, Indore, Panchmari-the only hill station of Madhya Pradesh, Bhimbetka rock shelters etc.
